Wedding Bells

My niece, Mary, got married today! It was a beautiful ceremony. Mary and Dustin asked Caitlyn to be their flower girl. We borrowed the dress that Julia wore in our wedding. And for the last month or so, did a lot of reading of "Lilly's Big Day" by Kevin Henkes. Caitlyn practiced walking around our house with a basket of flowers, walking slowly and smiling. The actual rehearsal went well, but I quickly realized that we would need some entertainment to keep Caitlyn quiet and seated during the ceremony. She did a beautiful job. I loved getting her ready and curling her hair! I sent her down the aisle, and then she sat with my mom up front. Mom sent her back for the recessional. The congregation was unclear as to when they were supposed to leave, so there was a little lull while everyone remained seated. Caitlyn took it upon herself to walk back down the aisle, getting a good chuckle from everyone.

The reception was a great time with family! Caitlyn and cousin Anya danced their little hearts out. We made it all the way through the cake cutting and then bowed out before a potential meltdown. I threw the girls in their pj's and they crashed on the way home. I just love weddings!

Macworth Island

It wasn't sunny, but it wasn't raining either, so we hit Macworth Island for an early walk. By far, the highlight for Caitlyn was finding a crab in a tidal pool and Pop Pop picking it up for her to see.

A Glimpse of Sun

The skies parted and the sun shone this afternoon for a little bit. So, we made an impromptu trip to the beach. I really wasn't thinking anyone would go in the water, so no suits, etc. Silly me!! Oh well...it actually felt like summer vacation :)

Wilson in Maine

So, when we decided to bring Wilson to Maine, I had some reservations. Who wouldn't, taking a potentially 12-hour car ride with a cat and two toddlers?! But in the end, we really felt that Wilson would be happiest being with his family. We had planned to just keep our buddy upstairs with us while in Maine since MiMi has old KC kitty and we didn't want to upset her. Wilson is a big chicken, so I really thought he'd spend a few days hiding under a bed and then maybe venture out into our bedroom. I could not have been more wrong. Mr. Wilson quickly checked out his surroundings and then proceeded to walk around as if he owned the place. Since KC usually spends the day sleeping anyway, we decided that Wilson could have the run of the house during the day, while KC slept in MiMi's bedroom and then KC could have the run of the house at night while Wilson slept in our bedroom. It had been working beautifully until Wilson escaped and immediately went to find KC. He has never sprayed anything in his life, but he took it upon himself to spray KC's litterbox, which happens to live in my mom's closet. YUCK, YUCK, YUCK! The two cats have since met for a brief period of time and didn't kill each other, but we've decided it's best to keep things the way they are and not risk any injury.

Naked BBQ

We hit another kid-friendly place for dinner tonight. Buck's Naked BBQ has delicious BBQ with the best Blueberry BBQ sauce! The girls delighted in the kid area playing dress-up and such.
